Kaizer Chiefs are on a mission to get into the top eight, while Mamelodi Sundowns are looking to open a gap at the top of the table.
Chiefs lost the last two games against Sundowns and they come to this match after a loss to Cape Town City in midweek.
Gavin Hunt has been chopping and changing the starting line up and this has had a negative impact on the team’s performances. He has kept some players such as Dumisani Zuma and Kearyn Buccas wrapped in cotton wool for the CAF Champions League.
Zuma and Buccas bring an attacking element to the team as displayed against Cape Town City when they were introduced in second half. If Hunt wants to attack Sundowns, he has to start them.
Meanwhile, Masandawana are yet to be defeated in the DStv Premiership and are inches away from defending the league. They come to this game after playing a goalless draw against AmaZulu.
When playing Downs, the playmakers Gaston Sirino and Themba Zwane are always going to be dangerous. However, there’s another young star, in-form Siphelele Mkhulise, who they have been relying on lately.
Fatigue could be another challenge for Bafana Bastyle after they’ve played four games in ten days. While they have depth in their squad, it may be difficult to use players who haven’t been playing for this big match.
Sundowns’ veteran midfielder Andile Jali is unlikely to be involved in this match after coming back from injury.
The match will be played on Sunday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium with Kick Off at 15:00
