DSTV PREMIERSHIP MATCH PREVIEW: SWALLOWS FC VS GOLDEN ARROWS

The in-form Golden Arrows will visit Swallows FC in search of a third win in their last five league games as they look to put pressure on log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Abafana Bes’thende are confident following the fine performances they have produced in recent games. It’s not a fluke that they find themselves being second in the league standings. That said, it is not a familiar position for them – can they hold maintain it? In February, the Durban based side won Q-Innovation Quarter Two and its R1.5mln prize.

Swallows FC have slipped in recent games but shouldn’t be written off taking into account how they have handled themselves coming from the lower division.

The Birds haven’t won in their last eight league games, but of those seven have been draws.

Swallows’ crucial frontman Ruzaigh Gamildien will be out as he’s suspended and they will surely miss his aggression when attacking. If I was coach Brandon Truter, I would replace him with Kagiso Malinga who was their top goal scorer last season.

Who can help out Swallows?

They should consider using veteran midfielder Musa Nyatama to add creativity in their offensive play. Joseph Mhlongo can also give them something considering how influential he has been when introduced late in the game.

Players to look out for at Arrows

Arrows seem to have almost all their key players ready to play. The in-form Velemseni Ndwandwe is one of the players that puts salt into wounds that their playmaker Ntsako Makhubela opens. Truter’s defence must have a plan to pacy winger Pule Mmodi who causes problems for full backs.

What do I foresee? Arrows will win this one as they’re stronger than The Birds and want to cement their position in the table.

The match will be played on Saturday at Dobsonville Stadium with Kick Off at 15:00
