BOK PLAYER RATINGS

BOK PLAYER RATINGS VS ABS

BOK PLAYER RATINGS

Frans Malherbe 5 – solid in defence; inconsistent in the scrum, however, the front row struggled as a unit initially

Malcolm Marx 5 – quiet game by his standards; can’t be the best if you miss your jumpers

Steven Kitshoff 6 – strong with the ball in hand; front row settled down and dominated a couple of scrums

Franco Mostert 6 – hard work in the engine room and energetic around the field

Eben Etzebeth 6 – solid display overall; would like to see him break a few tackles though

Kwagga Smith 8 – outstanding display from the dynamo. Schalk mini-me

Pieter-Steph Du Toit 8 – ever present; huge in the tight loose, hunts the tackles and was on Jantjies’ shoulder at the death

Duane Vermeulen 7 – no fireworks, just good, solid, strong reliable play and leadership

Faf De Klerk 5 – terrible ‘’pass’’ to Le Roux on an overlap was a missed chance; too slow and predictable. The toes up when shaping for the box kick beginning to grate me

Handre Pollard 7 – good in defence, controls the line, but backs not getting onto the front foot easily enough; huge pressure conversion

Damien De Allende 6 – good on defence; good pressure forced a charge down; no attacking spark though

Lukanyo Am 6 – put in a couple of good front foot tackles; needs to be aware of player’s outside of him and pass. Overall a decent game

Makazole Mapimpi 6 – alignment error lead to the first try; ball not getting to wings quickly enough so not much opportunity for him in particular

Cheslin Kolbe 7 – solid in defence, dangerous in space and has a winner’s attitude. Small in stature, huge in heart

Willie Le Roux 6 – quiet game. Failed to find touch on occasion. However, he created the overlap to put Kolbe away

Herschel Jantjies 8 – neat, quick and clean service. Never say die and a great try

Jesse Kriel 6 – made a number of good tackles. Midfield a bit messy at the moment

Frans Steyn 6 – is a big presence on the field. Could be the answer at 12 for the Boks

Francois Louw 7 – had a good time over the ball. His experience is vital for the team. Explained good manners to Whitelock

RG Snyman 7 – poached a line out early on. Big all round display and rattled Retallick with a good solid cleanout

Beast 6 – great cross field cover tackle and helped steady the pack well

Trevor Nyakane 6 – front row was steady once the three replacements took over. Forced a scrum penalty

Bongi Mbonambi 6 – line out miss was disappointing, but overall a solid performance. Good team player

Special mention: Nic Berry – missed 3 knocks, but checked the 4th – go figure.
